Intrepid adventurers will dodge scores of hidden traps, leap treacherous chasms, and flee relentless guardians through branching paths until one of the relics are claimed or the devices of death overwhelm them. Be warned, you only get one attempt at each temple and failure or settling for a lesser relic means you will never see that temple again... The cleverest players will use the phantom runs of failed attempts from other players to their advantage and avoid the missteps and mistakes that led to their doom. Asynchronous Multiplayer Explore the perilous halls and colossal rooms of each temple alongside the phantoms of fallen players that came before you.

Freedom of movement is critical in this game, and the Wings blessing grants you ridiculous amounts of horizontal distance while also negating fall damage due to its slow-falling effect.

If you’re a fan of retro platformers, then this action-adventure game may still be worth checking out, but, unless you have a burning desire to play, it’s hard to fully recommend

This ultimately leaves Phantom Abyss feeling like a treasure chest that’s only partially filled – it has its share of gems that shine brightly yet leaves enough space to make you wonder about the treasures that could have been.

That is rude. He loves action and rpg games, whether they be AAA or indie. He does not like sports games unless the sport is BASEketball. He will not respond to Journey psych-outs.

The devs should have added a few default phantoms that start with you, even in a temple that no other player has visited before, just to at least give the illusion that the phantom gimmick is working, and maybe makes the player feel a sense of danger as more and more of these phantoms die off.  

While never impenetrable, the frame rate suffers noticeably, and sometimes proves the difference between thrilling success and devastating failure, given the game’s emphasis on quick reactions. 

However, various restrictions in each dungeon go beyond simple obstacles like traps and spikes. These could be limited health, one-hit kills, or a temple Guardian: an ancient deity that chases you across the map trying to kill you. These restrictions are what keep you on your toes.

Currently, it doesn't synergize well with any non-whip movement blessings, as you have to either stand still or crouch-walk to initiate it, which severely limits its usefulness. Even if you have Double Jump, the boost only occurs on the first jump.
